As education continues to evolve in a
\nrapidly changing world, meaningful partnerships have become increasingly
\nimportant in expanding learning opportunities for students beyond the
\nclassroom. Through collaborations with local organizations, schools, and community
\ngroups, the Consulate General of the Republic of San Marino in the Philippines
\ncontinues to strengthen programs that help young Filipinos grow academically,
\nculturally, and socially.<\/p>\n
By working closely with educational
\ninstitutions and community stakeholders, the Consulate has expanded initiatives
\nthat promote lifelong learning and expose students to broader cultural and
\nglobal perspectives. These efforts reflect the growing understanding that
\neducation today extends beyond textbooks and traditional instruction\u2014it also
\ninvolves nurturing creativity, cultural awareness, and a deeper appreciation of
\nthe world.<\/p>\n
According to Consul General Jean Henri
\nLhuillier, education must equip young people with the skills and mindset needed
\nto navigate an increasingly interconnected future.<\/p>\n
\u201cEducation today must prepare students
\nnot only to read and write, but also to understand the world around them,
\nappreciate culture, and adapt to the future. Young learners need opportunities
\nthat encourage curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong desire to learn,\u201d said
\nLhuillier.<\/p>\n
This vision has guided several
\neducational and cultural initiatives supported by the Consulate over the years.
\nBeyond promoting literacy, these programs seek to create enriching learning
\nexperiences that help students become globally aware while remaining grounded
\nin their communities and cultural identity.<\/p>\n
Among the Consulate\u2019s longstanding
\ncollaborators is Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation Inc. (CLFI), whose partnership
\nhas further strengthened efforts to make educational and community-based
\nprograms more accessible to Filipino youth. Together, they continue to support
\ninitiatives that encourage literacy, creativity, and inclusive learning
\nopportunities beyond the classroom.<\/p>\n
One such initiative is the Consulate\u2019s
\npartnership with Bookmark, Inc. to publish Pamilyang Papel<\/i>, a children\u2019s
\nactivity and storytelling material designed to make cultural education more
\nengaging and accessible. The publication promotes reading, creativity, and the
\nformation of values through interactive learning experiences that introduce
\nyoung readers to culture and heritage.<\/p>\n
Building on these efforts, the Consulate,
\nin collaboration with Cebuana Lhuillier and LINKS Philippines, has continued to
\nstrengthen the Hooked on Books Program, an initiative aimed at enhancing
\nlearning environments and fostering a stronger culture of reading among
\nFilipino students. The latest project under the program is the development of
\nthe JHL-RSM Library, the 30th milestone Hooked on Books (HOB) library
\nestablished through the initiative.<\/p>\n
As part of the project, Leonor Petra G.
\nElepa\u00f1o met with representatives of the local government and the city
\nadministration of Manila, including city administrator Atty. Eduardo Quintos,
\nwho expressed support for the initiative and its potential impact on the
\ncommunity.<\/p>\n
Currently under construction at Graciano
\nLopez Jaena Elementary School, the JHL-RSM Library forms part of the
\nConsulate\u2019s broader commitment to creating more inclusive and supportive spaces
\nfor learning. In preparation for its opening, volunteers and partners
\nparticipated in a three-day community effort that included mural painting
\nactivities, library setup, and storytelling sessions for students. These
\nactivities reflect the program\u2019s holistic approach to literacy, combining
\naccess to books with creative learning experiences that encourage children to
\ndevelop a lifelong love for reading.<\/p>\n
The project has also received support
\nfrom several private-sector partners. Boysen donated mural paints that helped
\ntransform the facility into a vibrant and engaging space for students, while
\nTOSOT served as the project\u2019s air-conditioning sponsor.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Archispace Design Inc.
\ncontributed to the construction and design of the learning space alongside JAS
\nDesign and Build Development Corp., led by Sandy Ocampo and Alvin Lu, further
\nhighlighting the collaborative effort behind the initiative.<\/p>\n
As the project continues to take shape,
\nit reflects San Marino\u2019s enduring commitment to supporting educational programs
\nthat expand access to knowledge, encourage cultural appreciation, and help
\nprepare young Filipinos for the opportunities and challenges of the future.
